Temperatures will not be quite as hot on Tuesday with highs in the mid to upper 90s. But with continued moderate to high levels of humidity, heat index values are forecast to reach 105 to 113 degrees across the area. As a result, a heat advisory remains in effect for Tuesday.
Heat index values will fall below 105 degrees sooner in locations that experience thunderstorms during Tuesday afternoon and evening.
The risk for heat related illnesses will be especially high due to the long duration of this ongoing heat wave. Necessary precautions should be taken.
A heat advisory means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures can be expected. The combination of heat and humidity will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Residents and visitors are encouraged to drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sunshine, check up on the elderly, and stay in an air conditioned location if possible.
