Here at News 3, we are all getting ready...ready for the big day! I'll be out at Lafayette Square covering the parade early in the morning until early afternoon, and I will bring along my raincoat.
There is a storm system that's dropping light to moderate rain over Texas and Louisiana right now. This is the same storm system that will head our way, and it could bring some light rain on St. Patrick's Day. But before you get too upset....this is supposed to be a light rain event!
For tonight, we will stay dry. Clouds will increase, and skies will become mostly cloudy overnight. With light easterly winds, we will drop to lows in the 40s for inland areas and near 50 on the coast.
On St. Patrick's Day, expect to begin with mostly cloudy to overcast skies. There will be a chance of light rain showers throughout the day. The "best" chance of seeing rain will be between noon and 7p.m. Rain totals, however, should be only a few hundredths of an inch for most areas. So this rain should be more of a nuisance than anything. With light easterly winds, we will see highs reach the upper 50s to the lower 60s.
On Wednesday night, the rain chances will back off, but skies will stay mostly cloudy. We again will drop to lows in the 40s. Patchy fog could develop after 2a.m.
On Thursday, there will be a slight chance of rain showers. Otherwise, expect mostly cloudy skies with highs in the mid 60s.
On Friday, a dry forecast returns. With lots of sunshine, highs will warm up to the lower to mid 70s.
Have a Happy St. Patrick's Day, Stay Safe and Keep Looking Up!
