A flood advisory is in effect for extreme southeastern Coffee and western Ware Counties in southeast Georgia until 2:30 pm for minor flooding of poor drainage areas.
At 1:01 pm Weather Service doppler radar indicated heavy rainfall from a slow moving cluster of thunderstorms from east of Pearson toward Millwood southward to Cogdell. Radar rainfall estimates indicate that 3 to 4 inches of rainfall may have fallen in this area with an additional 1 to 2 inches possible. Heavy rainfall will shift toward Argyle and manor within the next hour.
Excessive runoff from these storms will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, highways, streets and underpasses. Country roads and farmlands along the banks of creeks and streams and other low lying areas are subject to flooding.
Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely. Move to higher ground. Turn around, don’t drown.
Stay tuned to NOAA weather radio, commercial radio or television stations, or cable television for any updates or flood warnings. For additional information, visit the National Weather Service in Jacksonville website at www.weather.gov/jax.
