It's already warm.
But it's about to get even warmer. Highs in the lower 80s for February?!?
Yes, it's about to happen.
WEATHER HEADLINES
1. THURSDAY: Near-Record Highs
2. FRIDAY: Slight Risk of Severe Weather
3. WEEKEND: Turning Cooler
For tonight, clouds will keep streaming in from the west/southwest. This will give us mostly cloudy skies overnight. There's also a disturbance just to our south over Florida. This too will give our area a slight chance of a rain shower. With breezy southwest winds, look for very mild overnight lows in the mid 50s to near 60 degrees.
On Thursday, we will see near-record highs. The record high for February 23rd is 82 degrees set back in 1980. Well, we will see highs in the upper 70s to the lower 80s for inland areas. It will be cooler at the beach with highs in the lower to mid 70s. Expect variably cloudy skies with breezy to even gusty winds at times.
On Thursday night, a warm front will lift through the area. This could set off some rain showers. It will be even milder in the mid 60s.
On Friday, we will face a risk of severe weather. A cold front is set to push through the area. Before it reaches us, we will warm up nicely with highs in the upper 70s. But when the cold front pushes through, we could see showers and thunderstorms. Some storms could be strong to severe. Right now, the main threat appears to be damaging wind gusts. But there's still a lot of tracking to do with the storm. Timing will play a key role in our threats.
By the weekend, the cold front will be offshore. Drier and cooler weather will return. Highs will back off to the 60s, and lows will drop to the 30s.
Keep Looking Up!
