The May 22nd tornado that ravaged Joplin, Mo., is impossible to forget. For many, it is difficult to move on.
But the community is trying.
Just today, demolition is officially underway at St. John's Mercy Hospital.
The tornado destroyed the hospital, surrounding homes, businesses and schools and killed more than 160 people.
Many said it looked like a war scene.
All in all, the demolition of the hospital will take about six weeks. And the new hospital site will be built roughly 3 miles from its former location.
The outlook on the new hospital...
"Though the tornado took our hospital, it did not destroy our spirit."
